Fully integrated mobile mapping system with 3D laser scanner and digital camera
IP-S2 features:
– High resolution mobile 3D cartography
– Dual frequency GNSS receiver
– Built-in highly accurate 6-axis IMU
– Odometer data input from the vehicle’s built-in CAN interface or external encoder wheel
– Supports many laser scanner models for operational and application flexibility
Built-in positioning system
Topcon’s IP-S2 mobile mapping system overcomes the challenge of linear mapping with very high accuracy. Precise positioning of the vehicle is achieved using three sensors positioned in one module (for easy mounting on the roof of the vehicle), namely: a 360° camera; a dual-frequency GNSS receiver for satellite positioning; an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) monitoring the position of the vehicle on the road and a connection to the vehicle’s CAN interface or an external encoder wheel for receiving odometry data.
These sensors work together to support very accurate 3D positioning of the vehicle even in places where the signal from satellites is blocked by obstructions such as: buildings, bridges or roadside trees.
IP-S2 automotive configuration
The standard IP-S2 system includes three high-resolution LiDAR scanners covering the vehicle path at ground level and nearby areas up to 30 meters.
A high-resolution digital camera can be added to provide 360° spherical images at 15 frames per second.
Other sensors can be integrated to provide full system configuration flexibility for a wide range of applications. Sensor data is recorded and labeled every 15 nanoseconds.
